Why did I decide to do an apprenticeship at TREFFPACK?

In my final year before leaving school, I was faced with an important decision - study or training? I realised that I wanted to become self-employed quickly and gain professional experience. When choosing a training company, it was therefore particularly important to me to have the opportunity to gain as much practical experience as possible.
Hamburg - my chosen home port
As I am interested in both foreign languages and business management processes, I came across the apprenticeship in wholesale and foreign trade management early on in my search. I considered several German cities for the location of my training, but Hamburg remained my absolute favourite. As Hamburg has the largest seaport in Germany, the city is the ideal place to train if you are interested in international trade. In addition, Hamburg has the only vocational school in Germany that specialises in foreign trade.
Among the numerous training companies in Hamburg, TREFFPACK particularly caught my eye with its diverse product portfolio. We encounter packaging in all areas of everyday life and I think it's nice to have a direct connection to the products I work with every day. I am particularly pleased when I discover packaging in the supermarket where I myself was involved in the procurement process.
As we serve customers from the food and spirits sector as well as the cosmetics, care and pharmaceutical industries, the apprenticeship at TREFFPACK offers the rare opportunity to familiarise yourself with several different sectors at the same time. As part of the apprenticeship, you will pass through all departments and thus constantly encounter new, exciting packaging and products - so there is always plenty of variety.
The advantage of training in a medium-sized company is not only the family atmosphere, but also the opportunity to gain an insight into all stages of the processes. I was surprised at how quickly I was able to take on responsibility and how varied the work is as a result.
Learning and growing in an international environment
One of the highlights of my apprenticeship was definitely my trip to Belgium to visit one of our Packaging Alliance Europe partner companies. During the exchange with my Belgian colleagues, I was able to broaden my horizons and also realise how much I had already learned about the packaging industry in my first year of training.
I can say with certainty that training at TREFFPACK was absolutely the right decision for me. Not only do I feel very comfortable in a friendly team, but I've also learnt a lot about different products and industries, taken on responsibility and, above all, developed personally as a result.
